What is PAN Card?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A permanent account number (PAN)<\/em><\/strong> is a ten-character identifier issued by Indian IT department to any individual.  A PAN<\/strong> is a unique identifier issued to all judicial entities identifiable under the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. The income tax PAN and its linked card are issued by the Indian Income Tax Department under the supervision of the Central Board for Direct Taxes and it also serves as an important proof of identification.  Even foreigners (investors) are eligible to apply subject to a valid visa.  A PAN is necessary for filing income tax returns.  This is mandatory for all forms except Proprietary.  The PAN for each entity will be as below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
